Walking the Walk

Writer Steve Almond quit his job at Boston College after hearing that Condoleezza Rice was invited to give the commencement speech at this years graduation.

Read his letter of resignation:

During his reading today he was asked about this by a person in the audience. Though 2 people did walk out (bye buye) he handled it in a most articulate and responsible manner.
GO STEVE!!

On a side note, a woman with a cooing baby left due to heavy hinting from Steve. Seems baby noises are almost as offensive as Condi.

while i am HUGELY respectful of that decision -- wow, how many people really put their livelihood and career, etc, on the line like that to stand up for what they believe -- the steve almond asking the lady with the baby to leave sounds much more like the steve almond i know! (i.e. i hate to say it, but the guy can be a total *&%&$#@, no?)

I did suggest an on the spot vasectomy after the baby episode.

Before the reading we were talking about some of his other antics... your beer story came up.
